In questo paesaggio rurale, premiato tra i Borghi più belli d’Italia e Meraviglia d’Italia 2012, premio EDEN 2010 e in cui le auto ancora non possono circolare, fioriscono le 15000 piante di ulivi distribuite nei quasi 5 Kmq di superficie.
Su questa isola si crea un microclima straordinario che unito alla fertilità dei suoli di origine morenica, ha consentito lo sviluppo dell’olivicoltura che produce un Olio di oliva extravergine oggi considerato un piccolo tesoro.

Montisola is the largest island in a European inland water body; it has been much appreciated by artists and writers, fascinated by its picturesque location, as a source of inspiration for their works.
On this idyllic island, which was voted as one of the most beautiful places in Italy and as Meraviglia d’Italia (Miracle of Italy) in 2012, and awarded with the EDEN (European Destination of Excellence) prize in 2010, and where no cars are allowed to drive until today, 15000 olive trees grow on an area of almost 5 square kilometres.
The island has an exceptional microclimate which, combined with the fertility of the moraine soils, has allowed the cultivation of olive trees. The extra virgin olive oil extracted from the fruits of these trees is considered a treasure today.
